WHAT TREATMENT CAN YOU EXPECT?

The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment offered by Smart Vision Optometry tackles the underlying cause of chronic inflammation without the use of drugs or drops. It combines IPL with the industry’s most advanced, proprietary Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™). The IPL offered by Smart Vision Optometry allows patients to get secure, long-lasting results.

How will you feel after the treatment?

Following treatment, you may notice some redness near the treated areas; this will normally go away in a few hours. Most of the time, you may apply makeup right away and resume your normal activities that same day. Following treatment, your doctor will tell you to avoid the sun for a few days and wear sunscreen.

After your first or second IPL treatment, the majority of patients will experience an improvement in their dry eye symptoms. To get the best outcomes, it is often advised to go back for further treatments once a month for four months. To preserve good meibomian gland activity and prevent the problem from returning, extra therapies could be suggested for those with severe Dry Eye Disease.

The IPL treatment works by controlling the process of inflammation. This minimises the need for medications and also provides long-lasting results. The treatment reduces the amount of inflammatory mediators, causing the inflammation to spread. Alleviates blood vessels by eliminating the abnormal blood vessels that are causing the ongoing inflammation. Finally, it reduces Demodex mites, which are causing infection and irritation.
