After One Week

• Lens Adjustment: If necessary, we may fine-tune your lens parameters and order replacements. This is covered under warranty up to two occasions within the first three months.

Ongoing Follow-Ups

• Scheduled Visits: Follow-up appointments are vital for monitoring and success. Your Smart Vision orthokeratologist will schedule these at appropriate intervals.
• Issue Resolution: If you experience any problems, contact us immediately. Do not wear the lens if your eyes are sore, and seek immediate help if redness and soreness persist for more than one day.

Treatment Time

• Adjustment Period: Achieving clear and stable vision generally takes one to two weeks, depending on the individual. Initially, lenses may feel uncomfortable, like having a hair in the eye, but this sensation decreases over time.
• Temporary Spectacles: While your vision is being corrected, you may need to wear spectacles or disposable contact lenses. We provide loan spectacles with ‘in-between’ powers to use as your prescription changes.

Troubleshooting

• Common Issues: Lens complications are minimal when instructions are followed. These may include mild lens binding, superficial corneal staining, solution allergies, and fluctuating vision due to improper lens centring.
• Night Vision: Some patients, especially those with large pupils, may notice halos and glare at night. This improves over the first one to two months as the Ortho-K effect stabilises. Specific eye drops and our newest Ortho-K lens designs with wider treatment zones can also help.
