Technology that supports your eye examination
At Smart Vision Optometry, measurements are interpreted alongside your symptoms, history and examination. Technology helps us investigate your visual needs and discuss suitable options; a device reading is one part of your care. Our article on good sight and vision explains why clear letters on an eye chart are only part of the picture. See our eye test overview for the broader appointment process.
ZEISS i.Profiler plus combines measurements of focusing power, optical aberrations and the shape of the cornea. Your optometrist uses these findings with the rest of your assessment when considering a prescription or lens options. Read ZEISS’s description of i.Profiler plus or explore our i.Profiler information.

Start with your concern rather than choosing a machine. Our diagnostic technology overview explains assessment tools. For treatment information, see Ortho-K, dry eye assessment and management and neuro-optometry.
Questions about eye-care technology
Do I need every test?
No. Your optometrist recommends tests relevant to your symptoms, history and examination findings. Ask what each proposed test is intended to investigate.
Does a scan replace an eye examination?
No. Instrument measurements support clinical assessment and the discussion of your visual needs; they do not replace your consultation.
Where can I discuss testing?
Book an appointment at Bondi Beach or Mosman. The practice can confirm which assessment and equipment are appropriate and available for your visit.
Care built around your individual needs
Discuss your needs with our Smart Vision behavioural optometrists. Your detailed assessment guides a personalised wellness treatment programme where appropriate.
