Eye injuries and chemical exposure
An object, scratch or chemical splash can damage the eye and affect vision. Pain, redness, tearing or sensitivity to light after an injury needs assessment. Do not rub the eye or try to remove an embedded object.
If a chemical enters the eye, call 000 for an ambulance. While waiting, flush the affected eye with cool water for 20 minutes, keeping the eyelids open. Retinal tears and detachment
The retina is the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. When it detaches, it separates from the tissue that supports it. Warning signs can include new flashes, a sudden increase in floaters, distorted vision, or a shadow or dark curtain across your vision.

Other causes of blurred vision
Blurred vision has many possible causes, including focusing problems, dry eye, cataracts, migraine and other eye or medical conditions. Stroke can also affect vision. An examination is needed to identify the cause and appropriate treatment; symptoms alone cannot establish a diagnosis.
